Welcome Head Life Lens®
Between Head Life Lenses® and it’s mirror opposite, Heart Life Lenses®, you self-assess as a Head Life Lens®.
A gentle reminder before we dig into your Head Life Lenses® report: to get the most out of your results, I recommend:
- Approach your results with curiosity not judgement.
- Pay attention to that little voice in your head when it reacts with surprise, disbelief etc. In other words watch where you’re focusing and how you react to your Life Lenses® results.
- Have fun! Seriously. Suffering is optional.
Using Life Lenses® will work best for you when you ditch the natural tendency to look only at the strengths of your Life Lenses® and the weaknesses of the other Lenses. To truly shine look for what the other Life Lenses® have to offer you. I promise it’s a ton!
Head Life Lens®description:
Head Life Lenses® (a.k.a. you!) are able to spot the flaw in any argument. You love logic and objectivity. You are known for your ability to seek out and squash bias. You thrive on facts, logic, and seeking the truth.
Head Life Lenses® on a good day:
Head Life Lenses® are known for seeing the world in an objective manner and place a ton of value on objectivity. They take a measured, logical approach to problem solving.
Head Life Lenses® are interested in the truth and they’ll gather information from a wide variety of sources to find it — from favorite websites, blogs, and books to newspapers, magazines, and experts.
That laser-sharp sword of truth is their strength. They spar with others using logic, facts, and solid arguments. They can be trusted to seek out bias and subjectivity and slay them.
True story:
A trial lawyer friend of mine is a case in point. He can argue something inside and out, dispassionately proving his point with information, facts, and logic. In a debate, he’s something to behold!
Whether working on a case or in his personal life, he steps up to the plate and uses logic to prove his point, while seeing the world objectively and dispassionately. He relies on what is tangible to guide his decisions. And he prides himself on not being swayed by emotions.
That’s a Head Life Lens® example for you. Finding wisdom in the tangible. In logic, research, and fact.
Facts are stubborn things and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. John Adam
Head Life Lens® on a bad day (no worries, we all have ‘em):
Head Life Lenses® can struggle to accept it if the facts they’ve relied upon turn out to be wrong. They may even seek out information to support their widely-disputed belief or opinion.
And the idea of facing emotions can be unsettling for Head Life Lenses®. On a really bad day, they can be so focused on the facts that they miss really important, subtle emotional tones, which blinds them to the undertows and nuances of a situation.
True story:
There’s an activity I’ve used in my Life Lenses® workshops that is hugely polarizing and often illuminates Heart Life Lenses®, the mirror opposite of Head Life Lenses®.
I’ve used this activity — a series of wildly creative, unusual questions — thousands of times. But on one particular day, I was working with a UN team.
One of the team members was a bright, articulate person who leaned heavily towards logic and being objective. When I rolled out the series of questions he was so agitated and frustrated by their “unanswerable” and “illogical” nature, he had to leave the room for a time.
I eventually persuaded him back and soothed his ruffled feathers but his reaction was, ironically, a very emotive response to a Heart Life Lenses® activity, prompted by his Head Life Lens® bias towards relying solely on logic.
Enter a Head Life Lens® on a bad day: by focusing solely on facts and logic he missed a lovely opportunity to be guided by his gut and intuition instead.
Mother: What do you mean, the school must be haunted?
Daughter: Well, the principal kept going on about the school spirit.
