Welcome Stop Life Lens®
Between Stop Life Lenses® and it’s mirror opposite, Go Life Lenses®, you self-assess as a Stop Life Lens®.
A gentle reminder before we dig into your Stop Life Lenses® report: to get the most out of your results, I recommend:
- Approach your results with curiosity not judgement.
- Pay attention to that little voice in your head when it reacts with surprise, disbelief etc. In other words watch where you’re focusing and how you react to your Life Lenses® results.
- Have fun! Seriously. Suffering is optional.
Using Life Lenses® will work best for you when you ditch the natural tendency to look only at the strengths of your Life Lenses® and the weaknesses of the other Lenses. To truly shine look for what the other Life Lenses® have to offer you. I promise it’s a ton!
Stop Life Lens®description:
Stop Life Lenses® (a.k.a. you!) are life’s thinkers, choosing reflection over action, and stepping on the brake as opposed to the gas. You are known for looking before you leap. You’re an absolute champion at making a pros and cons list before any decision.
Stop Life Lenses® on a good day:
Stop Life Lenses® are reflective and thoughtful. Cogitate, meditate, and contemplate are their watchwords. They like to take their time so they can do the necessary research and follow a thorough process, before making a decision and taking action.
Need to know the procedure for something or which rules to follow? Check in with a Stop Life Lens® . Need to make sure you’ve covered all the bases? Check in with a stop Life Lens®. I guarantee they’ll show you bases you never even knew existed!
The strength of Stop Life Lenses® is their ability to be contemplative and thorough. You can be sure that any decision they take has been carefully considered from all angles.
The idea of carefully weighing the pros and cons of a new business procedure makes their neurons dance with delight so you’ll often find them reading just one more report, one more research study, one more blog post before making a decision.
True story:
One of my kids is a Stop Life Lens® .. There was a particular phase he went through where he loved all things cooking. He loved cooking itself, cooking utensils, talking about cooking, and of course reflecting on cooking.
We made a small box in the kitchen with utensils just for him. As a Stop Life Lens® he thoughtfully curated what went in there and how it was arranged.
One day he decided he wanted to get his own pancake flipper. Off we went to the store to buy one.
I sat back as he thoughtfully, carefully, and deliberately considered the choices before him. How each one felt in his hand, the thickness of the flipping surface and how that related to its ability to actually flip something.
It was a joy to see him so absorbed in his task. And the one he picked? It was awesome! We still have it to this day.

Stop Life Lens® on a bad day (no worries, we all have ‘em):
Planning a surprise party for the Stop Life Lens® person in your life? You’d better, well, stop…(at least until you read this.)
The concept of wanting to be surprised is nowhere on Stop Life Lenses® wish list because when something is sprung on them, they simply don’t have the necessary time to think about it. On a bad day Stop Life Lenses® can suffer from analysis paralysis — they can have a hard time taking action because they’re spinning their wheels and can’t get any grip.
Just one more research paper to read, just one more interview to do, just one more person to consult… But while they’re weighing things up, the opportunity might be passing them by.
True story:
I was observing a small group of people talking about their logo design. It wasn’t going well. They were covering the same ground over and over without making any progress.
One person wanted to throw the options out to a bunch more people to get their opinions on it.
One person wanted to do a bunch more research.
One person wanted to do another focus group…or three.
All of these things had already been done but these Stop Life Lenses® were putting on the brakes and then some, refusing to take a decision. Instead of finally choosing a logo they were focusing on mindless details (much to the consternation of the graphic designer).
Enter a Stop Life Lens® on a bad day, with analysis paralysis and being unable to move forward with a decision.
Wait! What? No!!
