SUMMARY:Learning and Development Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Every month\, I host a roundtable that brings together top minds in the learning and development space to network\, learn\, and support each other as we all keep up with the latest in the Learning and Development space and grow our organizations. Join us virtually or in person (at the UN in Nairobi)\, and enjoy access to an engaged\, excited group of your peers along with access to my portal of resources and 5+ years of meetings! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s my pleasure to invite you to the Friday\, March 22nd Learning & Development Roundtable from10 am to noon East Africa Timezone (click here to convert to your timezone if it’s different).  I’m particularly excited to welcome you to this month’s guest speaker\, Anna Kuhmunen\, a traditional Sami reindeer herder from Northern Sweden who will join us via Zoom.Workshop Description: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI will share with you the love of my Sami culture (my indigenous group from Northen Sweden) and how I work with non-Sami people to educate them about us “the fighting generation.” I started my company\, “Silba Siida” because I’m so tired that hardly anybody in Sweden knows anything about my people\, regardless of what generation you ask. \nFor my children’futurere\, I want to be able to look them in the eyes and let them know that I did everything I could for them to carry on our proud traditions despite many challenges of discrimination. That the Swedish people hardly know anytning about us is dangerous. They say that my terrirotory is wilderness\, but this it not widerness. My people have been here for 10.000 years.  It’s my passion to share my culture with others and also what I’ve learned about working to educate others\, often the same people who have historically done the discrimination. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnna’s bio:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnna Kuhmunen\, a traditional Sami (indigenous person from Northern Sweden)\, is the co-owner of  Silba Siida\, an organization that educates people about Sami culture\, traditions and history.  Before she started her business Anna worked for many years for Swedish National TV (SVT) hosting Sami children’s programs\, as well as touring internationally performing traditional Sami singing called Joiks. Anna just released her first book about reindeering herding with dogs. Her and her husband come from a long line of reindeer herders and carry on the tradition today sharing their Sami culture with others\, garthered around a roaring fire in a traditional Sami tent called a Lavvu\, while sharing a variety of homemade reindeer delicacies such as mince\, sausage and reindeer rib soup. While her guests relax on reindeer furs\, Anna shares her sacred Joik singing\, all of whcih combine into a magical memorable experience.
