Culture, one of the critical 8 C’s, is key to your success.
Culture influences everything we do, everything we think & everything we feel yet it often goes unnoticed.
Annnnd it’s often the least recognized key to success.
Culture also comes in many forms – your ethnic culture, your family culture, your organizational culture etc.
Sometimes we fit our cultures (I love me some Canadian maple syrup) & sometimes we don’t (I’m not a fan of hockey, which is sacrilegious for a Canadian).
Cultures grow, adapt & change with time.
Culture is a shorthand that is only understandable to those who share the same culture. For example I have OCD. Know what I mean?
Gotcha. You likely thought I meant obsessive compulsive disorder. But that’s not the case as I have osteochondritis dessican, a weird thing where the blood doesn’t flow properly to the end of my bones.
See? Culture is a shorthand …. If you share the same culture.
Some things about our culture are super uber important (like for me, being a mom). Others not so much (like having OCD as thankfully it doesn’t affect me much).
Take a few minutes to think, doodle, draw or simply muse about your own culture. How would you describe it? How well does it fit you? How has it changed over the years?
