Welcome Carrot Life Lens®
Between Carrot Life Lenses® and it’s mirror opposite, Mountain Life Lenses®, you self-assess as a Carrot Life Lens®.
A gentle reminder before we dig into your Carrot Life Lenses® report: to get the most out of your results, I recommend:
- Approach your results with curiosity not judgement.
- Pay attention to that little voice in your head when it reacts with surprise, disbelief etc. In other words watch where you’re focusing and how you react to your Life Lenses® results.
- Have fun! Seriously. Suffering is optional.
Using Life Lenses® will work best for you when you ditch the natural tendency to look only at the strengths of your Life Lenses® and the weaknesses of the other Lenses. To truly shine look for what the other Life Lenses® have to offer you. I promise it’s a ton!
Carrot Life Lens® description:
Carrot Life Lenses® (a.k.a. you!) love to create systems. You notice details that others miss. You have an uncanny ability to focus. Carrot Life Lenses® don’t like to leave things undone.
Carrot Life Lenses® on a good day:
You can tell a Carrot by looking at their closet! Take a peek and you’ll see everything has its place: dress pants go here, casual pants there, long sleeved shirts here…
And their organization skills don’t end there. Look in a Carrot Life Lens® desk or filing system and you’ll find there’s a detailed plan behind it. Carrots relax by organizing things and creating systems. They’re good finishers and unlikely to leave any loose ends.
Imagine a carrot growing in the ground. It doesn’t have a wide view but rather a detailed, focused view. That’s its strength.
It’s a Life Lens® I know well having grown up with a Carrot mother. To this day she still alphabetizes her spices!
True story:
I’d done the Life Lenses® assessment with an eclectic mix of professionals. The group had been given their results and I was going through the details of each lens, giving examples.
I’d gotten to the Carrot Life Lens® and was explaining that Carrots love systems and organizing. That Carrots look down — their scope is narrow, focused, and detailed.
All of a sudden a participant started laughing, saying “now I get it, I understand”.
Triumphantly, she pulled a huge binder from her bag and held it up. “This” she said “is material from a course. A course that I didn’t even like. I didn’t like the content and I didn’t like how it was taught. Even so, I couldn’t help myself organizing the materials. They were out of sorts and all mixed up”.
With a flourish she pointed to the neat, new tabs, all brightly colour-coded, forming an organized, colorful rainbow down the contents of the packed binder.
That’s a Carrot Life Lens® for you!
Systems and systematizing brings them ease and comfort. It’s as automatic as panting for a cold drink on a hot day; carrots just can’t help creating systems.
“As a kid I used to separate grains of sand by colour.” A self-proclaimed Carrot Life Lens®
Carrot Life Lens® on a bad day (no worries, we all have ‘em):
On a bad day Carrot Life Lenses® focus on details that are neither important nor strategic. They can’t see the forest for the trees. Remember where Carrots look? Down. On a bad day they can have their heads in the sand.
True story:
One day I was working with a highly stressed team on submitting a funding proposal. It was sketchy if we’d make the deadline. I channeled my inner Indy 500 race car driver as I printed the proposal and readied myself to get it to the drop-off point (yes, it had to be handed in in person!). But, as I snatched it from the printer, lined up the pages, and stapled them together, my boss freaked out.
Why? Because the direction of the staple wasn’t lined up with the top of the page.
Enter a Carrot Life Lens® on a bad day, paying attention to details that are neither important nor strategic.
God is in the details.
Where Carrot Life Lenses® look: down, for the details.
Carrot Life Lenses® colour: orange (naturally).
What stresses a Carrot Life Lens®: vagueness, lack of details.
What a Carrot Life Lens® values: precision, details.
