No Boo hoo here. Goblin tech tools for neurodiversity

Regular readers know I’m a huge fan of tech tools.

If your eyebrows just climbed to meet your hairline, because tech tools generally make you want to vomit, let me explain.

I love tech tools that are:

• easy to use
• amp up learning and engagement
• help with communication, conflict resolution
• foster teamwork and collaboration
• bring ease and efficiency
• are inclusive etc.  

I love tech tools so much that I make it a goal to try a new one each week. 

Here’s one of the latest which participants in my last Learning and Development Roundtable on Emotional Intelligence LOVED when I used it with them.  More on that in a sec.

No boo hoo here.  Enter Goblin Tools.

What are Goblin tools?  In the words of the tool itself, “Goblin.tools is a collection of small, simple, single-task tools, mostly designed to help neurodivergent people with tasks they find overwhelming or difficult.”

Goblin Tools include:

1. Magic to do: 

• Enter a big task and it automatically breaks it down into manageable chunks. 
• You can also ask it to add a time estimate.  

• Tongue in cheek I asked it to make a to-do list for climbing Mount Everest.  Apparently I’m only 82 days away from that!

2. Formalizer

• This one helps you make your text more of what you wish, more formal, less snarky (yes for real) etc.

• See the choices below.

3. The Judge

• I used this tool with the Emotional Intelligence Learning and Development Roundtable.  
• You simply enter the text you’re wanting to be analyzed and it will ‘judge’ the tone of the text.
• You can also add your response to the same text and it will judge the tone of that too.

4. The Professor

• Enter a topic and it will give you a crash course on it,
• You can even set the number of “chili peppers” to control how simple or complex the description is.

5. The Estimator

• Just like it sounds, enter a task and “Just tell me how long this is probably gonna take.”

6. Compiler

• Compiles your brain dump into a list of tasks.
• Simply copy your text into the box and hit enter.

7. The chef

• Enter the food ingredients you have on hand and it will give you some recipes.

Cool right?!
