We recently celebrated the 100th Learning and Development Roundtable! As part of that celebration, I curated a beautifully crafted list of 100 plus key life lessons, with input from readers like you. And finally, I fulfilled a decades-long desire – incorporating the magic of a laugh track.

Many years ago I had an old cassette tape that I had cobbled together tracks of various people laughing. It was a simple, little piece of magic.
When people listened to it, they’d initially furrow their brows in confusion, and then, the magic happened. They’d bust a gut laughing, snort, giggle, or anything else that resembled an unexpected laugh.
I finally set about recreating that old cassette tape.
I simply knitted together a bunch of audio clips. Voila! A very simple use of tech tools.
Because after all, the use of humour can be very strategic.

The surprised looks I got when I asked to record people spontaneously, deliberately laughing were many.
They’d initially shuffle and fake laugh for a second or two and then they’d genuinely break out the belly laughs.
Take a listen yourself. Enjoy the giggles of individuals, groups, adults, and kids alike from all over the world.

And if you want to see who’s doing the belly laughing, you can see the timestamped “authors” of those laughs here.
But most of all, enjoy. Just enjoy.
Now go on and learn, learn some more, and lead

- Speaking of giggles, sometimes it’s really hard not to laugh, like when you’re trying to ignore a rubber chicken in your face.
Lead
- Send a short clip (a few seconds) to laughter [at] rpsinc.ca and we’ll add you to the audio file!
